School Concert.

My grandson, Dan plays trumpet in the Orchestra, the Brass Fnsemble an the Soul Band.

The Orchestra played Romance by Edward German and Can't Take My Eyes Off You by Burt Bacharach.


The Brass Ensemble played Soft Shoe Suffle by Ernie Waites and the Soul Band played You Can Leave Your Hat On by Randy Newman.

Dan had to be there by half past six at the latest. We reached the gates of Margam Park just before quarter past six but when we got to the car park it was more than half full. Inside the Orangery two thirds of the seats were already taken.

The Choir started the evening with John Kander's Caberet then the String Group played On My Own by  Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schonberg followed by Vivaldi's Spring.

Next came a vocal solo performed by a year 11 girl, I Could Have Danced All Night followed by the orchestra playing Romance.  The Year 9 Band played the Lost Prophets' Rooftops then the Brass Ensemble played Soft Shoe Suffle.

The Choir sang two songs, Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol and Start of Something New by Matthew Gerard and Robbie Nevil. AGuitar Solo came next performed by a Year 11boy , Jessica by the Allman Brothers then we heard a Vocal Duet, Tears in Heaven by Eric Clapton performed by two Year 11 girls.

The Year 10 Band played the Kaiser Chiefs' I Predict a Riot then the Primary School Chior sang a Medley from the Sound of Music.
After the Orchestra played Burt Bacharach, two of the Year 11 girls performed  a year 11 Composition called One More Night. The Chamber Choir and Chior sang two songs from 'Wicked', For Good and One Short Day.
The Year 11 Band played School of Rock by Craig Wedren and Jack Black then the Soul Band kept their hats on. Finaly The Orchestra, Choir and Primary Choir preformed Stephen Schwartz's We Beseech Thee.
